Wii games are losing popularity

When it comes to motion-controlled video games, Nintendo Wii has almost the entire market to itself. Nevertheless, brand new numbers are telling otherwise. Recent accounts show that more and more consumers are moving away from the Wii system and turning to rival game consoles for entertainment purposes. Truth is, Nintendo Wii, one of one of the most influential video sport systems within the 21st century, is fading in attractiveness. Nintendo may most likely have to come out with a brand new creation to fight off its competition if returning to optimistic growth is what it is after. Year has been hard for Nintendo Wii

Leading U.K. video games retailer GAME blames Nintendo’s consoles for the decline in revenue and sales this year. Gamestation also reported a loss of nearly 40 percent in sales compared to last year’s sales for Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS consoles. U.S. customers are also showing a shift away from the Wii. Nintendo isn’t really excited about the low shipment numbers for August, accounts Conceivable Tech. 244,000 Wii’s were shipped then. In contrast to the 357,000 Xbox 360 sales and 226,000 sales for PS3s, total Nintendo Wii sales for that month seem to pale in comparison.

Game console sales are decreasing all on their own. Nintendo probably will not stay in the lead with these trends without performing something big. But don’t expect a brand new Wii console from the Japanese video sport giant any time soon. There will not be a Wii console ready until 2012 although there may be one introduced next year.

Hot competition with movement sensing video game industry

There are now some huge competitors with the Wii. The Wii remote was mimicked by Sony with the PlayStation Move that came out earlier this season. It has better movement sensing technology in it than the Wii remotes though. Kinect is a camera based upon system that makes it so a remote isn’t even needed, which is what Microsoft is working with supposedly. A microphone, camera, depth sensor and processor are all used in recording what the user does with its movements and sounds. In November it will supposedly be accessible. Marketing is being planned by both companies carefully. They are marketing to the upcoming holidays.
