Mutiny on the Meridian has a certain ring to it, but Johnny Depp’s visit to the Meridian School in London didn’t quite have that effect. Asked to visit by a 9-year-old student, Depp visited in full Jack Sparrow gear. The pirate visit did not lead to the mutiny that the student had asked for. At the exact same time, no students seemed to mind the pirate crew had stopped by for a few moments. Article source – Johnny Depp and Jack Sparrow visit Meridian School by Personal Money Store.
Letter to Johnny Depp; really for Jack Sparrow
A letter addressed to Jack Sparrow was written by nine-year old student Beatrice Delap. Johnny Depp plays the character Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean”. She asked for help from Sparrow at school with mutiny. Depp decided to act on the letter that he received. It was not too difficult to get over there for Depp. He had been already in London working on the brand new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. The Captain and his crew took a couple of minutes off the set to visit the southeast London school.
Johnny Depp calls 10 minutes in advance
While in full Jack Sparrow regalia, Johnny Depp apparently made a last-minute decision to visit the school. Depp and a couple of other actors in full pirate regalia gave the school ten minutes’ notice. The Meridian School had to make quick arrangements. They were gathered into an assembly quickly. All the sudden pirates were walking into the assembly. Captain Jack Sparrow had been at the front. All the students were very excited to view the surprise guest walking in.
No mutiny at Meridian
There wasn’t any mutiny discovered at the school, although that was the purpose for Captain Jack’s visit. A pirate song was sung by Jack Sparrow. All the students danced along with it. Beatrice Delap was asked to the front by Johnny Depp. Sparrow/Depp told the student that they couldn’t rebel. He said, “Maybe we shouldn’t mutiny today because there are police outside monitoring me.” The actor, who is a father to two children, gave Delap a hug and posed for photos with the students.
