General Motors starts massive Impala recall

General Motors has started an Impala recall. The recall of 300,000 automobiles is because of a potential defect in the seat belts. Belts might come apart in collisions, because of improper mounting. There are only two impacted model years. General Motors will contact owners of the affected model years.

Lots of Impala recalled

A seat belt defect is what caused the Impala recall to be announced by General Motors. Over 300,000 cars will have to be recalled due to it. USA Today explains that only two model years of the Chevrolet Impala have the problem. The nearest Chevrolet dealership, or just General Motors, should be contacted if you own a Chevrolet Impala from 2009 or 1020. If you need info on the Impala recall, 800-630-2438 is the number to call. Owners of the vehicles can be getting notices from General Motors and dealerships about the recall. Owners of the recalled vehicles won’t have to pay anything for the defective seatbelt that is easy to fix.

Recall due to seat belt deficiency

General Motors maintains an investigative division to catch these issues before everyone is hurt or killed. There have not been any injuries or fatalities reported for the seat belt defect. This is what CNN reports. The front seat belts are defective within the Chevy Impala. The belts aren’t properly anchored to the lap belt pretensioner. A crash might result in the front passengers not being securely kept in. The mount and belt may separate from one another.

It is a fortunate routine repair

The reports started during warranty maintenance of the seat belt, which GM investigated. By June 2009, there had been 9 complaints over it. The recall started as a precaution after 32 complaints had come in by August 2010. No accounts were of injury or death. Cars need to be inspected. Owners ought to do this before October is up.
