Health claims by POM Wonderful having it prosecuted by Federal Trade Commission

Most individuals know about advertising. This helps them to understand marketing isn’t typically all that true. Corporations will often get in trouble for the claims they make about products in marketing. In Los Angeles, the company POM Wonderful LLC makes a pomegranate drink that is popular. This company is now being sued by the United States of America Federal Trade Commission, reports the Wall Street Journal. The Federal Trade Commission suit is all about what is within the POM Wonderful products. Evidently the juice and POMx supplements have “false and unverified statements that their products will prevent or treat heart disease, prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction.” Resource for this article – FTC suing POM Wonderful for unsubstantiated health claims by Personal Money Store.!

Federal Trade Commission challenging POM Wonderful

There are numerous POM Wonderful ads that specifically state that their products are “proven to fight for cardiovascular, prostate and erectile health,” reports the WSJ. The Federal Trade Commission explains that having "17 percent improved blood flow” and a "30 percent decrease in arterial plaque” aren’t enough evidence to advertise that way. POM Wonderful makes statements that aren’t very legitimate. It claims that "unprecedented scientific research,” is put to the products before advertising.

According to David Vladeck of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, “Any consumer who sees POM Wonderful products as a silver bullet against disease has been misled.”.

Suit submitted against FTC by POM Wonderful

POM Wonderful made complaints about the FTC. Apparently the business thinks it is unreasonable for making such requirements. POM Wonderful claims that the First Amendment free-speech rights were being broken when the FTC requirements were put in place, which was before the FTC even submitted the suit. The FTC was just doing its job when asking questions about the all too specific wellness claims by POM Wonderful making sure the public is safe from false advertising. POM Wonderful put out some ads which were especially interesting. The ads stated that the only way to protect from prostate-specific antigens, or PSAs, was through drinking its pomegranate juice. The WSJ claims this has not been proven scientifically at all. Customers may end up getting products depending on statements that aren’t real.
